The Sectoral workforce committees (CSMOs) aim to pinpoint the chief problems in their specific labour markets, then develop and implement the necessary actions to address these problems. The 30 CSMOs enjoy the active participation of nearly 400 labour market partners.
The committees’ main tasks are to foster the development of continuing education in businesses and to identify the specific needs of their respective sectors in terms of human resource management and work organization. Determined by the sectoral intervention policy, these tasks can evolve as the Commission’s strategic policy directions change.
The Sectoral workforce committees are composed of representatives from main business associations and industrial labour organizations, as well as non-voting members from ministries or sector-based organizations in the targeted sectors. Normally co-chaired by a business and labor partner, the committees operate using a consensual approach and are autonomous, legally constituted organizations.
